A Thank You Post!!

This thank you is directed at several people!!

BigRich! - as ever you have provided excellent advice and support via the U2U system here, similar to all the advice and help you gave me when I was struggling through wiring up my car! Thanks Rich!

Jubal! - at the drop of a hat (almost!) you gave up your own time on a Sunday and removed parts from your car so that I could test the parts on my car to help rectify a problem without having to buy expensive items! Thanks Derek!

As many may be aware I have recommended the Services/Products of Andy of ABPerformance several times.

Mostly when someone else has asked for a recommendation/advice. For example, the recent post/question regarding the clutch action of a BEC and solutions to it...

I have received help from him in such a way this time that I think deserves Public Praise!

My car's problems:
My car wasn't revving through 4000revs cleanly at all, and would at the "prod" of the accelerator, stall altogether!
With the advice and my own common sense, I went through the following;

checked plugs
checked fuel pump (was running with engine started)
checked crap in fuel filter
checked pressure of fuel press reg
checked fuel hose was "clear"
took carbs off and apart
cleaned bowls (not really needed)
checked needles/jets
swapped to 132 main jets (just cos I could at this time!)
swapped for new plugs just in case
removed snapped exhaust stud
replaced with temp allen key bolt (no effect as wasn't blowing - just an unbelievably shocking angle on just one of the MAC#1 manifold headers!)
checked all air jet/nozzles in carbs
checked regulator/rectifier (courtesy of Derek- Jubal)
swapped coils (once again courtesy of Derek!)
checked crank position sensor (recommended by Andy)
swapped ECU (coutesy of Andy) - Wasn't effective, still same prob, so my ecu proved ok!
swapped Facet Fuel Pump and Fuel press reg for standard Fireblade pump
set the mixture screws to suit all the changes

Now after most of the initial checks/changes nothing provided me with a suitable solution - the car still wouldn't rev through 4k and that was on the drive - on the road (under load obviously!) it was 10x worse!

It was at this point that I gave Andy a call - he suggested a few more things (listed above) but the real gratitude here is the fact that he sent me these items out completely free of charge - I didn't even pay for postage! All he said was what works you keep, and then pay for, and what doesn't you send me back sooner or later!

Now in spite of the fact that I recieved help from a few people in all this, I think Andy deserves a special thanks - this guy is doing it as a business, there is no need for him to send stuff out for free - he is a true supporter of the BEC cause, and as a Race Car preparer, really does know what he's talking about! and he's a top bloke to boot!!!

Cheers to you all, and whilst I'm at it, thanks to everyone on here who has provided me with help over the months I've been a member!

Cheers, and kind regards,
Steve

Glad you sorted the gremlins.
Nice one for giving due recognition, it seems to have been richly deserved.
