The Hills Have Eyes

apparently, but since I can't get into the router to set up a static IP, I can't get nay torrents to work. Mostly my lack of technical knowledge to blame I suspect. Anyways. anyone know of a place on the interweb where I can open up a web page, click download/yes/I'll have it for free please etc etc etc and it appears on my PC a (not so) short time later?
PS, not that I would ever encourage potentially illegal down loading, 'tis purely for research you see, officer.....

You don't need a static IP to download torrents. Don't know if this helps?

I no longer run Furore Products or Furore Cars Ltd, but would still highly recommend them for Acewell dashes, projector headlights, dominator headlights, indicators, mirrors etc, best prices in the UK! Take a look at http://www.furoreproducts.co.uk/ or find more parts on Ebay, user names furoreltd & furoreproducts, discounts available for LCB users.
Don't forget Stainless Steel Braided brake hoses, made to your exact requirements in any of around 16 colours. http://shop.ebay.co.uk/furoreproducts/m.html?_dmd=1&_ipg=50&_sop=12&_rdc=1

Apparently with, my router you do. As I said though, a lack of techy knowledge, may well be the issue!

You won't need a static IP.

Use uTorrent with encryption mode. Enable UPnP on the router.
If you have a Belkin router you can set up server mode (others have a smiliar name) where you can do IP routing. You set and IP address and port which always route to a given IP/port on the PC. This allows a sort of static IP when using NAT translation.

Tools wise for web pages, look for wget (web get) or an equivalent. You give it a http address and it can download it and follow links too. (you can specify the depth it will go to).

IExplorer can save pages too.

I've tried following a few on line tutorial things, but the router has a password, and the mate who I'm borrowing it off is in NZ at the mo. I can't get the torrents to actually start as uTorrent doesn't seem to see the interweb. I'm all a bit at sea with these slightly techy things.

Have you tried admin and admin for the router password or has it been changed?

yours, Pete

I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

It's been changed. He nicked/borrowed it from work before he went, and I don't know where he put the bit of paper with the info on it. As I say, it's working now, but I have no idea why. Although more seeds would be good, looking at a 9 week download at the mo!
