Oil Presure-Which is best?
Need to order an oil pressure guage soon. So Which is best? Capilary or electonic?

I have a capillary Racetech jobbie plumbed into my cylinder head.
Being in the head gives me a bit more confidence.....

spa do a combined electronic pressure and temp gauge, complete with senders and loom, and it can also power external warning lights at user defined
limits a bit pricey at about £150 but quality.

I would go capilary everytime. They tend to be used on racecars as senders are unreliable.
I use dual analogue water/oil pressure from spa.
The advantage is they tell you the temp even with the engine off, but the downside is if you install them incorrectly and you get an oil leak.

That was my thoughts Nitram, but Europa recommended electronic when I spoke to them at Donington. I thought vibration could be a problem with
electronic and fubahed the senders.
Not bothering with oil temp, just want presure as the bike clocks only have oil level and no presure warning light.
I'll use Racetech as I've already got a fuel guage and sender fitted.

I'd go for electric. If a wire breaks the dial stops displaying any pressure. If a capillary tube breaks you get hot oil all over your legs.
Unlikely to occur but serious enough that it puts me off.....

Capillary gauges tend to be more accurate, but the leakage problem is a bit scary. If you're gonna go capillary, spend the extra money and get a
heavy duty Stainless braided capillary: most of them are white plastic push-on jobs, and I wonder if they'd push off under pressure. Stil, Im
obviously not that worried as I have one on a 1.7 Xflo sprint engine...
We shall see.

You can find ex MG Smiths combined oil pressure water temp capilary guages on Ebay for 20 to 50 depending on condition --- I sold one on here
recently.
No electrics involved so easy enough to test,
For the water connection you will need to T it into the by-pass.
