No claims bonus on insurance

Can anyone tell me what the truth is on no claims bonus.

Me and the wife have our own cars and have 10 yrs ncb.

We have just got our kitcar SVA'ed and had to insure it for DVLA registration. The cover note arrive so off to DVLA and registration. A few days later we had the whole insurance details delivered and now looking thru it, it says that ncb = zero....

We telephoned up the insurance company and they said that on kit cars you don't get ncb......and that any ncb you have on other cars cannot be transferred to a kit car.....

my 275 quid fully comp on a 2lt kitcar restricted to 5500 per year is more than my (don't laugh!!) 2lt citroen picasso that is not milage restricted.

any help would be appreciated

It's usually true. They don't respect NCBs on other cars when you're insuring a kit....

Kind of fair I suppose. Just because I've got full NCB driving a poxy Micra doesn't mean I can drive the BEC Locost sensibly or well

my understanding is its transferrable to the one policy only so if you have transferred it to your daily driver then it can only be used on that vehicle and not on a 2nd car.

Specialist policies are treated differently and most dont accrue NCB or have NCB allowed to reduce the premium

My kit policy with flux does accrue NCB allegedly.

I think the underwriter is Ensign but I might be getting confused with my other car.

It's a s[pecialist policy so won't have any NCB - you can't use what you've got, and won't accrue any from it (the kit car policy).

It also applies to classic car schemes etc etc.

If you're concerned about the restricted mileage, phone them. A friend had a 6k limit on his Ducatti, which he used in the first 4 months. Phoned them, and got unlimited cover for an extra £30.
