Jacking your seven (no it's not a early 90's dance)

Hi All,

I know this sounds like daft question but how do you all jack up your cars? I've just borrowed my brother-in-laws trolley jack and it wont go under the chassis The saddle on the jack is about 135mm high at it's lowest point and the chassis is about 105-110mm. I don't really want to spend a fortune on a low profile jack. Anyone got any ideas?

drive the car onto 2 bits of wood or flags or whatever you have to hand that's more than 30mm thick..........

far cheaper than a low saddle jack

i use a normal budget jack (like the one that comes with your donor) to lift the first inch, then stick a trolley jack under it.

6 foot of 4" x 2" wood for me, shove it under the front or back and heave it onto axle stands....

I dont think you could get more lower than my fireblade car

and a normal wind up jack goes under with something to spread the load if be then whack some axle stands under

Scissor jacks are very low. Try to get one of those if you can. Not very fashionable these days so you may have to try a car boot or something to get one.

I use one of those cheap trolley jacks that Machine Mart and others sell. Just fits under mine.

Cheap Halfrauds 2 ton trolley jack - I removed the swivelly thing and replaced it with a hard rubber pad. It now goes down plenty low enough.

Cheers,

On my road car when a jack is a tight fit I can usually shove the car a couple of cm higher with my shoulder to get it under. When it comes back down again friction in the suspension is working for you and it usually sits back down high enough to slide the jack out.

The only way I could get my fraud's trolley jack under my mate's 350Z was by raising it up a couple of inches first with the scissor jack out of the boot.
