Bench Testing CVH Starter
Hi
I want to bench test my CVH starter motor. What terminals should I connect to the 12V battery +ve and -ve?

Why do they call Port Harcourt "The Garden City"?...... Becauase they can't spell Stramash.

If my logic is correct;
A = Main 12V feed from battery (High Current)
B = Solenoid 12V (Lower Current from Ignition Switch)
C = Solenoid out to motor
Casing = Earth

Thanks. I'll try it once the kids are in bed.

Clamp or bolt the negative earth to the mounting flange and touch the positive to C just to spin it over. Clamp it in something while you do it.
yours, Pete
I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

Does C refer to contact on the solenoid? If so, then that is not connected to -.
Nothing is connected to C since this should be wired to the starter motor.
The negative - of battery goes to starter body.
To test solenoid:
+ to B, - to motor body
To test motor
+ to C, - to body
To test motor and solenoid
+ to A, - to body, touch B with + and solenoid should close causing motor to spin.
Id suggest you put your foot on the motor as I expcet the torqye reaction would casue it to jump, then gain, maybe not but you will get some nice fat
sparks
