bellhousing wanted
hi all
does anyone have such a thing as a bellhousing to fit type 9 to ford 2.0 dohc.

the type 9 providing its a short shaft one should fit on a dohc ford engine.
or has yours not got a bellhousing?

The gearbox I believe is from a v6 capri and is the long shaft type.
I have shortened the shaft and fitted a spacer between the box and bellhousing.
The shaft, the spline and the release bearing sleeve are all now ok.
I have replaced the original bellhousing, which wont fit the engine (wrong hole centres) with another of unknown origin but with holes that fit.
The problem now is when it is bolted up to the engine the release bearing is pressed hard up to the clutch release fingers releasing the clutch.
In other words the release bearing is to far forward.

perhaps your problem is really the clutch lever, in that it is not the correct one for that engine and holds the thrust bearing too close. You may be
able to modifiy or replace that instead to get the bearing to move back.
Why not take a picture inside the bell housing and let us all see it, also take one of the thrust bearing. I also seem to remember that I had to do
something in there to get my manual gearbox to fit, I think the tube the bearing slides on was a different length, hmm I wonder if that is
what's hitting the clutch.

I dont think the lever is the problem.
I have two, one of which is better but not enough.
The problem appears to be the distance of the boss, where the lever fits under the small pin, to the mounting face of the bellhousing/engine.
On the original mt75 the distance is about 20mm further away from the engine.
It looks like I will have to modify this boss.
somehow.
I wonder if anyone else has had a the same problem.

noooooooooooo!!
you should have flogged on the long nose v6 box and sourced a short nose one. people are always after the long nose boxes and they are much less
common.

Cant help you with your clutch but you may want to find out what bellhousing you originally had (the non Ford hole spacings). These can go for £££.

ps i recently lobbed out 2x short nose type 9 gearbox bellhousings that prob would have done the job

with the weight of the dohc maybe you could invest in an rs2000 ally bellhousing from rally design
