Wet/dry roads.
Been out for a drive out via A55 to Conway, LLanrwst,Betws y coed and home via Denbigh moors. What was very noticable that all the main roads were wet
but pavements dry. Lanes and minor roads dry !
Does "gritting/salt" make the roads stay wet longer ?

Salt
Salt on the road absorbs moisture from the atmosphere. This tends to make the surface rather greasy.

Definitely! I nearly lost it on a roundabout the other night - salty slimey grease makes the roads very unpredictable.

Just arrived back from Bournemouth and the roads down there are lethal - must be salt and grit from the spreaders and the damp sea air - felt like it
was understeering round most islands - or was that just me????
Cheers, Pewe

Its probably the new salt/grit that councils are useing. Its got molases added to make it stick to the road (I kid you not) and means they don't
have to re-grit as often.
The problem is that as the temp comes up the salt draws moisture from the air and mixed with the molases makes a slimey mess! More dangerous than the
frost because you don't expect it.

Tell me about it, biking home yesterday from work, lost it on a sharp bend, sprained wrist, sprained foot, cut's and bruises left and right
side, big graises to left of face and three stiches to my chin.

A10 has been slippery on the roundabouts for a couple of nights especially if you go off line.
Fog patches tonight for added fun.
Wonder if you can sue the council...
