You should have sent the V5 back with the new engine number and capacity when you did the conversion. It will probably take a couple of weeks to come back which will delay your getting a tax disc.

You also need to provide evidence when reducing engine size:

quote:

Changes to the cylinder capacity (engine size)

If there has been a decrease in your cylinder capacity that affects the rate of vehicle tax you pay, you must produce written evidence to the DVLA showing details of the new engine number and cylinder capacity (cc).

Written evidence can be:

* a receipt for the replacement engine
* written evidence from the manufacturer
* an inspection report provided for insurance purposes
* written confirmation on headed paper from a garage if the change in engine size took place before you bought the vehicle

If you increase the engine size you do not need to produce any evidence.

they flummoxed me when they asked for a letter from the garage who fitted it. I would suggest, a reciept for the engine, a photo of the engine bay, and a signed statements that you fitted it yourself.

I sent a letter written by my friendly local MOT tester type man saying engine number, cc and the fact it was installed & running, like above without proof they wont issue a new V5, no problem when going up a tax class though.

Wouldn't accept photos and a letter from me,

They wanted a headed letter from my local Yamaha dealer which unfortunately for me the yam dealer refused to do it

Ended up with getting another bike dealer to do the letter, Charged me £25 for the privilege though

Toady, a friend of mine is seriously thinking about buying a bec, and we are in Oxon. When are you thinking of selling and what sort of money are you looking for the ol' gal?

I had a friendly garage write a letter stating that the new engine was only 900cc (on headed paper) and sent this off with the v5,came back all done and in new tax classification
when car was bought from from JoelP it was still classed as a cec

If it doesn't fit MODIFY it!!
Cheers BriF
