Caravans
any caravan sales people on here?
I am looking at getting a new caravan and would appreciate some advice on getting a good deal.

What do you expect from America! They do mke lots of different sizes and are IMHO the most beutiful things that ever were called caravans, all the
rest of moden ones look like badly designed shoeboxes and have about the same level of structural integrity. I think best thing to do with them is
donate them to Top Gear, they know what to do wit them!

Sod getting a caravan. Sell your house and buy one of those mobile home type thins that they had on top gear with room underneath for the locost

I like the Airstream Basecamp.

Looks good but as you say short on facilities. Also would need a pretty big car (it would need to weigh 2 tonnes) to pull even the basecamp.
The smallest Airstream which you can actually use as a caravan needs a Range Rover at least to pull it.
not really an option then - guess I'll have to go along with the one SWMBO wants then

Edit: oh yes forgot to mention - they are also about 4 times the price of one of 'our 'vans  - so they should be good really

I prefer not to mention the time the Indy was on the trailer - then it tipped backwards, fell off the back and shot the trailer forwards putting the
towing hitch straight through the side wall of my Dads caravan thanks Rich

My niece got a good deal on one from Glossop caravans last year. No problems with them
since for warranty work either.

Mark,
Wait for one of the shows, they always have good offers/incentives for buyers. That said it's winter so you may get a good deal on a 2007 model.
The main thing is to decide how many births and what layout, also look at what you'll be towing it with the weight of the tow car will determine
what you can tow.
Also look at the foreign vans, well built and some good layouts.

I thought caravans were more suitable for the activity at the other end of pregnancy
What's wrong with a Rangie as a tow car? Classics are cheap and very suitable for LPG to make them affordable to run. You would then have one
design classic towing another
