Springs
Hi everyone,
I'm sure this has been discused before,
but can someone please tell me what the best spring rates for a BEC are?
Are the springs on the back the same as on the back of a pinto engined 7 (with IRS)?
Thanks for your help

On my MK indy Blade I have 175 rear and 325 front, but remember that it has wider wishbones than book or ST etc so needs higher spring rates.

It all depends on exactly how your suspension is designed, where the dampers pick up on the chassis/wishbone, the angle of the dampers etc. If
you've bought a chassis such as MK or ST etc, then have a word with them about springrates, if not then its a bit trickier. It also depends on
the dampers you are using, if they are twin tube dampers like Avo's, Spax etc, then the springing will be different to a gas monotube damper
such as Nitron NTRs.
As a guide, my book live chassis (original MK chassis) blade Locost with Avo's had 175lb rear and 300lb front, which was too hard for the road
and a smidge hard on track, so I reckon around 275/150 would have allowed me to use the adjustment in the dampers better on track, and maybe 250/150
would be better again on road.
Ive now moved the front suspension pickups tho, which meant that 250lb springs would have actually been effectively stiffer than my old 300lb setup,
so now use 225lb springs on the front and 160lb on the rear.
