Progress

Iv been in the garage for 9 hours today. finished welding the chassis, and got the engine this far in:

Engine half in
Engine half in

Only question is, can i cut the middle of the tube out where the top of the bellhousing is and put in some triangulation to compensate and have the engine a bit further back? This would allow a more comfortable gear change and allow me to use one of the sections of the donor propshaft without having to modify it.

How long can i resist the temptation to drop a V8 in?

My dad suggested a periscope. Its just resting on the chassis at the mo ocs we couldnt get it in without taking the gearbox mount off.

No reason not to play around with the chassis design as long as you stick in lots of triangles, infact you will improve it.

How about somthing like this Rescued attachment Drawing1.jpg

indy chassis' don't even have that tube because of the rounded footwells.

i'm not saying it's wise to omit it, but it won't make your car fall to pieces iyswim.
