Megasquirt - Do I still need a Cat for SVA?
Sorry if this has been covered before but can't find any links.
I am building with a post 95 2.0 Zetec engine, throttle bodies and Ford injection and I have built myself a Megasquirt to control it. Will I be able
to get through SVA without a cat? with the appropriate fuel map - or am I just dreaming!
If you can, has anyone managed it?
I am assuming the tests during the SVA must be well prescribed for RPM etc so could a map be tailored for the test? ( and for subsequent running as
well obviously......!)

If you are running a car engine that is after August 95 you will need a cat regardless how good your map is. Unless you can convince the examiner that
it was built before 95, by some unlawful means.

Practically if it's post Aug'95 you will need a CAT.
My understanding is that it'll be near impossible to get a post'95 car through without a CAT but it could (just!) be possible.
I don't think there's a specific requirement (ie it doesn't say "you must have a cat" ) but you need to get your
emissions down to pretty strict limits and that normally means having a cat fitted....
ps make sure the mixture is reasonable before fitting the cat. It'll effect the mixture a little (due to back pressure) but it's better
than dumping a load of fuel into the cat can and knackering it!!!

As for the other part of your question, emmissions are tested at "idle" and "fast idle" which i think is 3000rpm?? As the car
wont be under load you can tailor your map at these points only for the emmissions test.

I assume MK make full systems with cat included?
