North Wales Run
Hi,
I am thinking of organising a run around North Wales and prior to starting any work on it an looking to see what the take up would be. I am looking
at making a weekend of it and think the program would look something like this:
1. Meet on the Friday night at a camp site fairly close to the Border and have a bit of a social gathering.
2. Saturday go for a drive stopping for lunch at a pub, the route I have considered is 240 miles. Followed by a BBQ on the night.
3. Short run on the Sunday with lunch again at a pub
4. Go Home
Do you think the route is too long at 240 miles?
Not really interested in the make of car just a get together for like minded people as the importance is that we have built or remodeled our cars.
I am looking at organising it for May 09 as we have better weather then or at least it has proved so over the last few years.
I will ensure that it doesnt conflict with any shows etc.
regards
Bob

yes please!
Although 240 is a bit far really.
Maybe one long route with a couple of 'escape' routes for those that want to head back early for a beer!

Thanks for all the positive response, I have taken your comments to heart and will change the route accordingly to reduce it to about 150 miles.
I will put details here as and when I get them.
I was thinking for the Friday night you bring your own beer/drinks and for the Saturday I will see if I can get an outdoors bar.

Trip over to Port Merrion (of The Prisoner fame) sounds like it might be a good idea via some suitable roads. I have cycled over there and back in the
past so should be able to do it within the 150 mile range using some nice roads from the border area

Hi All,
I have looked at a route and have it down to 180 miles. The route looks like this:
Leave the camp site in Llangollen and head towards Denbigh A525, from Denbigh head to Llanrwst, from Llanrwst head for Capel Curig via Betws y Coed,
From Capel to Beddgelert, Beddgelert to Portmeirion. Portmeirion to Barmouth, stopping at Maentwrog for lunch at the Grapes. Barmouth to Aberdovey.
Aberdovey to Bala, Bala to Corwen, Corwen to Llangollen and back to the camp site.
What are your thoughts?
I will have route cards for everyone before setting off on the run.l
Regards
Bob
OOPS that should be the A542

Thats better - sounds like a great route to me having driven / cycled on most of those roads - some stunning scenery there!!!

Brill thanks
I rate the Old Corn Mill for food, good quality and very reasonably priced, parking could be a problem though.
