Part built to full build swap?

After a frustrating 9 months of not getting any further on my Indy BEC I’ve decided that the allure of driving one is greatly out stripping the joys of building one.

I have a fantastic drive to work each day just crying out for a Seven type car.

Therefore I’am considering selling the Indy part build and buying a complete road legal car.
Ideally I would like to part exchange with someone looking to build again who is looking to sell their existing car. But of course will sell the part built if someone wants it first.

The complete car doesn’t need to be anything high spec, ideally a branded make eg MK, MNR , MAC. Most likely have a car engine at the kind of money I’d be looking to spend. Would consider something that needs tidying as long as its usable today.

Spec of the Part Built Rolling chassis is:

2007 MK Indy Powdercoated BEC Chassis
1996 ZX9 Engine fitted and running, Dyno’d and shorterend sump by Z-Cars
Manifold and exhaust that needs some work to fit.
ZX9 Wiring loom, loosely fitted
Fitted Floor
Complete suspension with brand new shocks and ball joints
Sierra brakes installed and working
Fuel tank, pipes, pump filter all fitted and working
Sierra 3.62 Diff
MK Prop fitted
MK Pedals (works brakes but not engine)
MK Rollbar needs painting and fitting
Temporary radiator (needs replacing)
Sierra Steering rack and column
4 Alloys and Yokohama tyres

Cost me £4K to get to this point. Would accept offers.

just as we're coming up for winter you want to buy an open top car.

why not just finish your one over the cold months and use it in the spring?

Hi mate,

I tried a similar thing a few weks ago out of curiosity - as I too got tired of a project and nothing to drive.

My car is significantly further on than yours, and still no interest in a swap.

With IVA on the horizon I think there will be a lot of nervous builders giving up, and a premium price on SVA'd BEC's.

Not great news, but hopefully the realisation will do to you what it did for me. GOT ME BACK IN THE GARAGE!

its the iva that has given me the push to get on and finish my car, hopefully around xmas time, but so the nottingham sva centre told me that as long as you have your application in before iva starts, you will be tested as per sva so you've plenty of time

nib1980 - Definately want a 7even , would prefence on CEC or BEC at the moment.

I will put some pics of the build up tonight.

I would love to finish what I've got but circumstances have changed since starting the build, sure there are people on this site that appreciate this.

SVA/IVA isnt too much of a worry, think I'am just getting impatient to drive the thing.

Wouldn't it be cheaper to pay somebody to help you get finished? It's got to be less than buying another one and taking a huge hit on the part built. I got an enormous amount done when I had one single person (who knew what they were doing) helping me for 1/2 a day. It cost a bit but it was worth it because I could see that things were done properly, as well as quickly.

BTT.
Maybe some weekend only surfers who are looking for something to build to get them back in the garage on such a miserable week weekend.
