Tell me about the friction dampers, I just purchased a Riley project without any dampers, I recon I can make some without breaking the bank.

There is a dealer called Tony Betts (http://www.7ca.co.uk/) who deals in some of these parts, he has a ss kit that retails for £150 that did most of it. He has the springs and indented leaf's and glass fibre discs. The centre part was thrown away in my case and re-modelled using a CAD drawing and jet cutting service. I find working in stainless a pain.

Took my two young girls to a motor museum and showed them a 7 (a Ruby) and said I'm going to save up for one of those

Everything Tesla these days... Why a Tesla? cos dad it drives itself. Eh? Well where's the fun in that??

My old boss has an Austin Speedy (Austin 7 in disguise). It's a fascinating little car to look at and to drive. Driving it takes real concentration.

Tesla - schmesla = not for me really.

I just have this memory from a few years ago... heading north on the A140 from Ipswich to Norwich, a very busy 50mph (mostly) road. Coming the other way was a little Austin 7 struggling to do 35mph on the up-slope with about 10 HGVs, 30 vans and about 50 cars trailing behind! Absolutely no chance to overtake...

I mind years ago going to a Austin 7 meet and getting a half hour ride in a little Chummy which looked just like this one owned by this really old guy who was quite rightly very proud of it. Without a doubt the most amazing tiny car I've ever been in and so much fun. Over 80 years old, still going strong and looking like it was new, the car not the owner



My dream car would be a Ruby like this -

If you are not in the 750 MC you should be, all the experts are there although probably getting on a bit ( like me- not that I have any expert knowledge). Last time I looked they were still running races for early Austin 7 specials.

If you mean 750MC I would not think so, Sometime since I have been involved but always felt it was for genuine enthusiasts whether for motor sport or more gentle vintage things.

I have just updated my Blog after 2 years of modifications here if anyone is interested. I got a bit lazy with the blog during the lockdown hence the massive update.
