Locost Parade Lap at Silverstone

Locosters Alert!!!!! Silverstone parade lap

Locosters of the world....

It is ten years since the first locost race meeting and to celebrate this you are all invited to attend the race meeting due to be held on Saturday August the 22 at Silverstone.

Admission £10.00 (PP) unless you are a 750 motor club member then you gain entry for half price.
we are looking to have a parade lap of as many locost including the current racers, a bar-B-Q (Not sure if free as yet) held after the days racing which will include the locost race, Formula Vee, Road going bikes (RGB) and 4 races involving the tin tops (Stock hatch, MR2's, Golfs and SR and GT.) This is all included in your admission price.
We have also been given the free use of the main grandstand.
So for a tenner you will get a days racing, the chance to stretch out in the glorious sunshine ( I have booked the sun in advance) a chat with the racers and to drive round silverstone's hallowed tarmac on a slow lap showing of your pride and joy.

Please post to give me an idea of the expected numbers.

The only criteria will be that all cars must be in the true sense a Locost as per the book. (not too concerned about the type of engine)
Passengers will be welcome (obviously in a seat with belt).

DRC INDY 7 - 19/7/09 at 06:11 PM

we should be there for the weekend but 3 of the cars are mks and 1 is a locost it would have been nice to go round on the parade lap given that there are based on the locost

I might have travelled down the three hours if i could have taken the Indy on the track.

Hi Andy.

Do you / we know if the drivers on the parade lap Inc passengers will have to use helmets. I realise that as a parade lap the speeds will only be around 10-15 mph however i am not sure as to the requirements of helmets being used or not ?.

Ill have a word with Robin as i have to speak to him today anyhow. Unless you already know.

Cheers Matt

procomp - 20/7/09 at 11:10 AM

HI

Conformation on the wearing of helmets.

it is not a requirement to use a helmet ( but is advisory ) It is however a requirement to have eye protection. Ie glasses goggles Etc.

Cheers Matt

I wouldn't mind going to that - mine's a book locost - but the weather would have to be 100% sure to be dry. Me & the missus don't fancy the idea of driving all the way back in rain!

David,

It will be glorious sun shine.

I'm even tempted to fit a passenger seat for this so that my (extremely supportive) gf can feel involved.

Hi Andy,
Do you know what the parking arrangements would be for anyone attending in a Locost?

David

Paul.

David Jenkins - 17/8/09 at 07:57 PM

Sadly, I'm not going to make it - my holiday is approaching fast, and I have just too much to do before I go...

DavidM - 18/8/09 at 09:14 PM

Sadly I have been unable to change my holiday arrangements, so won't be there either.
