Unknown chassis and body?!!
ChrissyDai - 19/7/16 at 08:53 PM

Hiya guys, if I have pictures of a car, but the existing owner (and me) don't know exactly what model it is, where can I post the pictures I have to get help please? I don't want to post in the wrong section and get told off haha!

Upload it into your photo archive and post in this thread

Post in whatever section seems most logical to you. Sounds like this section or 'locost related' would be best for your query.

If you need assistance on uploading/posting photos the query comes up on a regular basis in the 'website discussion/suggestions' section

---------------
Go to your photo archive - (link just below the logo at the top of the page)
Upload any photos, add folders etc should be self explanatory.
Once uploaded, click on the photo you want to post.
At the top of the photo are 2 boxes, one contains a PG reference, the other an IMG.
If you copy and paste the PG box you will get a thumbnail like so:

[pg ]90999[/ pg] - remove the spaces and you get:

NovaLiftOff
NovaLiftOff

If you copy the IMG one:

[img ]http://locostbuilders.co.uk/upload/NovaAutosoloLiftoff.jpg[/ img] again, remove the spaces and you get:

If you are wanting to post pics from another site, you need the URL that must end with a .jpg or similar image based file name (.gif .bmp etc), and put that between the [ img ] brackets as above.

Cheers, guys. I'll upload the pics tonight when I get in! The guy that is selling it seems really genuine, but without the input of the likes of you guys, I wouldn't know what it is, what it's worth and if it's worth a punt on etc

ChrissyDai - 21/7/16 at 12:38 PM

Here are the pictures I have received guys, any help would be fantastic, and a rough price of what you think it's actually worth would be great as well! Thank you

Looks very MK indy like to me.

ReMan - 21/7/16 at 02:28 PM

Hmm
Yes a bit MK, but not the scuttle GTS?

steve m - 21/7/16 at 04:02 PM

I would of said a Locost, as in book built, and if so current value no more than £1500

With 7" diff/IRS?

steve m - 21/7/16 at 04:22 PM

Were does it say anything about a 7" diff/irs above ?
exactly it doesn't, and all the info we had was a couple of poor pics,

steve

£1500 seems more than fair, looks like a fixed diff,

prop not bolted up so is the gearbox goosed, disconnected so you can roll it about?

What is the gearbox?

Engine looks grubby, does run?

Is it plumbed in, electrical and water?

Does it have an ECU

Engine running nicely on caterham ECU, Type 9 bolted up with custom bell housing etc, it has a lot of potential to be worth maybe £2,500

I would say Gts Panther. Front wish bones look like gts/rally design. Gts would be easy to identify with the front frame and de-dion rear axle.

There is a picture of the diff.

ste - 22/7/16 at 05:00 AM

I'm going for GTS Panther too. Front wishbones are the same.

ChrissyDai - 22/7/16 at 06:39 AM

The wording in his advert states Caterham k series engine and bell housing, type 9 gearbox and de dion axle if that helps! Thank you for your input gents, it's really appreciated!

The car isn't running, it comes with a box of parts, but there is a lot of parts missing! Obviously no V5 either

big_wasa - 22/7/16 at 07:09 AM

So its likely to be a gts panther but it could be a home build as he also sold plans.

Slimy38 - 22/7/16 at 07:11 AM

If the owner doesn't know what chassis it is, it suggests that he is the second (or maybe even third) owner. For a car to be taken on, but then sold still waiting completion, suggests to me that there's big jobs in there waiting to be done. No IVA would have been bad enough, but an unknown engine and parts is even worse.

I'd at least want to see the engine running before I parted with £1500. Do you know when he bought it and why he is selling it?

ChrissyDai - 22/7/16 at 07:26 AM

I don't know when he bought it, but I do know he has had it a while and hasn't done anything with it at all. Whether that is due to lack of funds or interest I honestly couldn't tell you.

I'm looking for something so I can do a Saab turbo conversion, but I'm not sure if this will be too much work! I do realise I need a lot more pictures and information about it before deciding to part with my money, but I genuinely didn't even know what kit it was! Just like every other novice builder I was hoping it was a diamond in the rough!!

He is looking for about £1500 for it though

ChrissyDai - 27/7/16 at 07:14 AM

I think the issue is seeing as it is a GTS Panther is sourcing any parts it! Nobody seems to be trading or making panels for them any more! This is probably the reason why it's still in the shape it is now! It's starting to lead me to believe it's not worth much at all if a. It doesn't run b. It's incomplete and most importantly c. I won't be able to source the parts myself to complete it! Seems like such a shame
