Rear Brake Issues
chrisbmxr - 11/4/18 at 10:06 AM

Hi All,

More help needed I'm afraid!

After a run a couple of weeks ago I noticed that the rear brakes are only biting half of the disc (see pics) and I'm concerned that there is something wrong (and I am due to MOT the Indy in a few weeks!!!).

Both sides (NSR/OSR) are identical, but this inside face of the disc seems to be wearing fine.

Do these look like the right calipers/pads for an MK Indy? I'm planning to remove and refit the pads at the weekend and see if that helps.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks for your help!

perhaps the pads have hung up on the holder? or the pad friction material has cracked or there was a step in the disks already (both unlikey on two disks)

only way to tell is to take it apart...

you'll fail the MOT for sure with it looking like that

you haven't been driving about with the handbrake on have you?

As above first check should be how tight the pads are in the carriers.

How are the inside faces of the disc wearing?

Would have thought you'll have to replace the discs or at least have the outer faces skimmed flat.

Trouble is I need to identify what discs and pads I need! Should they be standard Sierra fit?

Those discs look like they've worn quite a lot and appear to be heavily stepped! The rears on ours are still like new, even after 13 years of abuse. They get very little wear. It's hard to tell if they're heavily worn from the photo but something doesn't appear to be right.....
