At last, a Date!!!
Daddylonglegs - 20/6/12 at 01:47 PM

Finally got a date for my test!

Took my money mid-May (see previous moan) and today the wife text me saying I had a letter from VOSA. I'm working in Delhi until tommorrow so I said open it. She said it wa the CD being returned and the test centre would be in touch shortly. Shortly it was, 10 minutes later she had a phone call offering a date!!!

As I knew would happen because that's the way my luck runs, I am away working in Texas for 3 days, and the date I got offered? the 2nd day I am in Texas!

Anyhow, I am now going with 8am on 24th July so let's hope my luck changes for once, apparently the guy wants 6hours

Fingers crossed I guess, and watch this space......

Well done !

Ignore my ignorance (what was on the CD? Build pictures)

Daddylonglegs - 20/6/12 at 01:53 PM

Yep, bloody hundreds of 'em

Toprivetguns - 20/6/12 at 01:56 PM

Ahh I didnt know this, where did you get this information from ?

Daddylonglegs - 20/6/12 at 02:11 PM

To prove that it is a self-build and thus elligible for the IVA M1 test.

Ah ok, I must read more of the IVA manual then.

Nice one there aren't many of us 442's on the road. We are indeed a very rare bread.

Certainly sounds like it......(I took my build 'log' - a photographic story of 'how it was made' !)

Edited to say - good luck, Daddylonglegs!

Good luck mate am i right in thinking that i can put all the build pics on a cd or do i have to get them printed out

johnwilders - 20/6/12 at 07:55 PM

I printed off some of the most important photos & sent them in with my application but they never got as far as the IVA man, I also sent them in to the local DVLA chap. He did have them when I went in to register it. I took my laptop to the IVA with me for the photos, He only wanted to see one or two, one being the bare chassis as it was self built. The whole test took about 3 hours but it is a very uncomplicated tidy car working the principle of don’t have anything sharp or pointy & if it ain’t needed don’t fit it. One last tip, If everything is that you can see even if you have to strain to see it is well done he will be more likely to accept that the things you cant see are properly done. Hope to wish you luck nearer the time but good luck anyway.

Thanks Gary, let's hope I make it +442.... +1

@leewesty, I did the same as John, just put the lot on a CD, printed off some choice pics of the main stages of the build, and sent them with my application. I also took some printed pics to the DVLA when I went for the inspection and VIN allocation, but they weren't really intrested to be honest, but she kept them with the paperwork anyhow.

Probably need them for the registration I guess?

And thanks for the good wishes, more positive Karma please!
