kipper - 23/11/11 at 03:20 PM

Hi guys ,
Still looking for a cheap 4x4 for winter, pref Hilux, mitubishi, or similar.
Tryed piston heads but they all seem to be darn sarf
Any offers?.
Regards, Denis.

The prices have gone up quite a bit in the last few months. If your after a 4x4 just for winter then maybe look at a Fourtrak or Lada Niva as these are less well known and both perform very well and can be then sold on in the summer. Best to look in the local papers rather than on piston head etc as there are just too many buyers

Ladas are now pretty scarce, very scarce for good usable ones. more chance of a Fourtrak which are also great but rustbuckets

For a cheap winter 4x4 there are plenty cherokee diesels, reliable and capable. Start looking on ebay and contacting sellers direct with offers rather than messing about bidding.

And make sure its not using / losing water.
Its a very common and well known problem with K series engines. Namely a Head gasket job (that rubber seal slips out of place).
If its ignored its a scrap engine (usually)

Good Luck.

Just hope it snows soon
Lets see how the Gaffer gets on with it.

I was about to put your Vitara link on here - It will sell , snow paranoia is well advanced.

I hope so, problem I am having is its difficult to value.
A bog standard Vit of this age is usually very rotten, this has no rot.
It has a £400 set of tyres a £1000 hard top you know the story its cost a few quid.
