Engineering porn!

I don't know what they're making, but I love the technology... I wonder if I can fit one in my garage...

have to agree WOW, and guess who just got caught wating engineering porn at work!

slingshot2000 - 15/5/14 at 12:55 PM

That is just showing off !

I dread to think what that thing costs... I doubt whether I could afford to buy just 1 or 2 tools for it, let alone fill the whole tool holder.

Once you start watching you're compelled to watch it all! Mesmerising stuff.

Slimy38 - 15/5/14 at 01:41 PM

Did anyone notice the tools were labelled 'horn'?

A question though, when the piece was transferred from one chuck to the other, why was it turning?

I can't figure out what it's meant to be though, is it just a demo piece where they have all the different techniques available in one place?

nick205 - 15/5/14 at 02:40 PM

Love it

Just had a gaggle of engineers watching it over my shoulder and getting very excited

Maybe the spinning motion ensures there is no swarf potentially settling on the part as the chuck jaws close....thats my best guess.

Jenko - never mind the fancy tooling - your wife's blog is hilarious!

sdh2903 - 15/5/14 at 04:46 PM

I never thought I'd sit and watch an 8 min video of a lathe/mill. But that was truly mesmerising

ReMan - 15/5/14 at 07:04 PM
