Side Pannels in one Length
maskell01 - 9/3/12 at 03:25 PM

Are there any plans knocking about for side pannels to go from the rear arch, all the way to the nosecone in one length?
planning on using aluminium.

Or any hints to avoid screwing a sheet!

Its for a standard ron champion chasis build.
Cheers

Aaron

Not sure what car you are building ,

but there are plans in the "Chris Gibbs" Haynes Roadster book.

Theres quite a few Roadster builders who have made the side panels from Ali, think there are some good photos/hints on AshG,s build blog ( he,s a member on here too ).

Now seen your edited post re building the RC chassis, apart from the dimensions differeing slightly the plans in the Roadster book might be of help.

cheers

I am not sure on the dimensions you are using from the book but mate had new side panels laser cut and folded out of ali for his Luego Velocity. Ask oggierock

I did mine in one piece. I just took a detailed drawing and measurements, and cut an 18mm MDF panel to match the side of the chassis.
I then cut my ali bigger and formed around my pattern.
They fitted first time with no problems. I was well chuffed with my self.

Yep, my Luego velocity panels are in one piece of stainless steel.

If your anywhere near North Herts then your welcome to pop over & take a template off them.

I made dummy side panels from stiff card for mine and once I was happy with the fit used them as templates to cut the aluminium ones.
