What to do with the spare bedroom
907 - 5/9/14 at 07:59 PM

The trouble with only having a double garage is where to store things.

Store them in the lounge, on display. Personally I would just sleep with them, gently stroking their curves with a non abrasive cloth while drifting off.

I've already edited out jacking.

^^^^

We're not posh enough round here to have a lounge. We have a living room.

"On sweet" means you've just sat on a fruit jelly that you lost down the sofa last Christmas.

double garage i wish mines getting built on the driveway when it aint raining

David Jenkins - 6/9/14 at 11:01 AM

Paul's "double garage" is made up of one half full of his car, plus a sheet metal cutting thing, and the other half is full of lovely metalworking machinery and tools. Not enough room to swing a rat...

907 - 6/9/14 at 11:16 AM

I this part of the world we have very small rats.

ashg - 6/9/14 at 08:29 PM

to be fair thats a pretty feeble attempt

real men have a lathe in their spare bedroom!

rusty nuts - 6/9/14 at 08:57 PM

But Paul has a real lathe in his man cave!

R888's and a box of Megajolts
I will store more in here but also have a spare lounge and another bedroom available
The barn I rent has been pretty well filled up

My cousin has a 2 bed place and is converting bedroom 2 to a scale model building workshop

Some of his models photographed and photoshopped by me

Ash, I'm impressed; and I'm not easily impressed.

Over the years on this site I've seen loads of pictures of lathes.
They are always spotlessly clean, often newly painted, polished beds without a drop of oil in sight;
and never ever is there a single curl of swarf to be seen.

So it's just me and you then. The only two with a lathe that isn't a workshop (or bedroom) ornament.

Paul - You have seen my lathes, haven't you? Grubby, oily and covered in swarf - and so are the lathes!

The wife sat by the car today doing her make up.

She asked why she couldn't have a vanity mirror like any other woman.

Haha Lol that's just the little baby indoor one the proper one is down in the workshop.

Occasionally I will clear up the swarf but only when there is so much of it that the machine snags on it and throws hot metal at my face.

907 - 10/9/14 at 06:58 AM

That's still too clean Ash.

One of my ex guv'nors bought four strips (matching colour of the door) of stair carpet for the floor of his
workshop (Ha Ha)

It was so the tyres on his/his wifes matching BMW's didn't mark the floor paint.

ashg - 10/9/14 at 12:17 PM

Haha that picture was the week I moved In to the new workshop. Be assured it looks like a pig hole now :-)

So, back to the task in hand.

The bedroom's now empty and the cars a step nearer IVA.

Still some jobs on the list including a new windscreen, cut the demister vents and fit & wire wipers and washers.

Several other items to wire including replacing the Cortina speedo with an electronic one and swopping the amp gauge
for a volt meter. Everything in the scuttle area.

Had to wait for the sun to go behind a cloud to take these pics. It's sooooooooo shiny.

when we first meet and my wife came to visit my house, her initial comment was why are there two motorbikes in the kitchen and car doors in the bedrooms???

women they just don't understand...

^^^

If it gets a bit hot and sweaty in the bedroom at least you can wind down the windows.
