how hard are you
alanr - 4/8/06 at 08:08 AM

This is going to sound like a strange questiong to be asking - but you bike engined guys out there - how much stick do you give the engine - do you push it to the limit all the time (Marc told me he does) or are you gentle sometimes

Everytime I'm out in driving it semms to want to be driven hard all the time in every gear and at 8000+ is as sweet as a nut

Full beans all the time once warm. Unless the missus is there as I get told off for using too much fuel!

Once the, oil presure, oil temp, water temp are up there.

Thrash the knackers of it ( unless the wife is in and I get screemed at ).

My engine is hopfully coming out over winter for a new one sod the fuel consumption.

not a bike engine I know but you have got to make the most of it.

I give it a few minutes, then 'ave it large (within the speed limit of course ), then give it a few more minutes to cool off before turning it off.

I drive gently along the little roads near my house but once on the open road I let it have it. The car is only good for one thing and that is full thottle to high revs acceleration. You just have to use it as intended.

I am always worid that it will overheat if i thrash it too much. I guess there is only one way to find out.

If it will dit in traffic though i guess a good thrash would do it good. Saying that though it is bloody loud at the moment due to the silencer having burnt out

maybe i will get a new one of those first!

I drive like a vicar - never exceeding 3000rpm.....

....NOT

G.Man - 4/8/06 at 03:55 PM

Mine gets warmed up in the garage before pulling away, then it gets thrashed to within an inch of its life...

I love lighting the tyres up at every oppotunity, so much so that I now get cheers of approval wherever I go in Nicosia..

Sadly I have killed the clutch now and awaiting a new barnett clutch from the US...

Wont take long to fit, and the new pace 4 row race rad will go in at the same time...

Do you have the radiator supplied by MNR? I wouldn't worry. I have one on my R1 engined car and in really hard driving the water temperature at the rad is always low, even on a really hot day. Motorway speeds cool it down even more. Only when stationary does the temperature rise.
