Right.. after getting the back suspension sorted ( wrong upright ) i am having a problem with my front end. ive cut out the holes for the wishbones. the top went in fine, but the bottom one has a brace in it like an A shape. the problem is this brace interferes with the bodywork before i can push the wishbone in far enough to get the bolt in





from the inside you can see i need to push the wishbone in another 10mm or so



i have been looking through my build manual, and other peoples build diaries, and photo archives, but it seems everyone else either doesnt have this extra brace , or they have a different design which has a brace but is further out. anyone else building one like mine know whats wrong?

Isn't the bottom wishbone on upside down?

it is, but they are symetrical so it still fouls exactly the same when i flip it over i just bunged that one in for the photo

And if it's not on upside down you could always cut a little more of the panel, doesn't look like it's fouling too much.

the holes will however need to be quite a bit larger to allow wishbone travel also elongated to allow the wishbone strut bar to clear,
please dont do what one customer did and cut the bar out it is a very important part of the wishbone and in the position it needs to be in

Noooo not my beautifully sculped holes boo hooo.. do you know how long i was beavering away with my dremmel last night.. hehe

how are those rear uprights coming along? have you managed to get them sent out yet? if so did you send them to my work address ( the same address you sent the sprocket adapter to)

Dave are your sure your body work is pushed all the way in, here's a pic on mine and with the body pushed in i have about 1" clearence to that bar.

excuse my holes, they still need some beavering with the dremmel

I'll second that, I moved the bottom of the body in, much better fit
Don't forget bones have to move up & down!
holes will have to be bigger than that

does the bottom of the bodywork need pushing in so that it is touching the tube frame, as the shape of the chassis goes in at the bottom front? i thought it might have to be spaced out a bit to keep the sides 90deg to the floor because the underside of the tub at the front has much bigger returns on it?

I haven't pushed mine in that far, but the bottom front
is narrower than the top. I moved it in just far enough to
clear the wishbones throughout their movement,
plus a bit more!

my bodywork will push in about another 10mm, and the wishbone needs to push in about 10mm more, so the cross brace in the wishbone will always to close to the bodywork it seems... ill know 100% by tomorrow night when i get back out in the garage, and carry on with the build

Have you trial fitted the nose yet?

If you haven't the width of the nose will give you a guide as to where the side panels sit. Use wide masking tape to hold it together so it is easy to move the side panels in or out to suit.

agreed, i'd say the nose is the all-important guide to how far in/out the sides should be!

aaah oh cool. ill get the front end trimmed down then, and see how that goes
