Half Finished - 7/8/21 at 02:21 PM

I searched and couldn't see a thread. Just seen that Haynes have a new "build your own" book by Ant Anstead.

Details on :
Haynes site

Anyone building one? It looks interesting, I've just ordered the book.

If you haven't seen there TV series which accompanies this it's excellent. I think it's called Master Mechanic.

Yeah I watched that series. Problem with these cars is that they look like something Jeff Bezo would drive cos it looks like a huge...

ANT ANSTEAD MASTER MECHANIC

First two episodes on Quest TV tomorrow 10PM

And So It Begins
Season 1, Episode 1
Ant has 12 weeks until his baby boy is due, and the same amount of time to fulfil a childhood fantasy, to own a 1950s Alfa 158;
but since he doesn't have $20 million lying around, he's going to build it.

What Lies Beneath
Season 1, Episode 2
Ant has found a donor 1950s chassis, so his ambitious Alfa 158 build can now begin;
digging deep into his passion for the early years of Formula One racing.

I managed to get hold of the series from another source, and I have to say it's not particular rivetting so far. I don't know what I was expecting though, possibly something like 'a car is born' but it's nothing like it? And there's not much 'content', I get the impression when it was originally broadcast it had to include a lot of recaps even across the adverts.

Found the series poor, just like most other TV 'car' shows, and the book even more so!

Typical 'cashing in' book.

I haven't got mine yet but nothing ventured

Just finished watching the series and very underwhelmed. Started off promising but each episode seemed to jump and miss bits. Penultiimate eppisode went from running car without body, and visiting Foose to get some paint inspiration, then the start of the next episode it was painted and done. No talk about why he didnt go with ideas he discussed in prev episode, no paint booth videos.
Seemed like they squeezed 20 episodes in to 12 and missed out half the good stuff. Far to much time talking about his arm and wife (who is not with now anyway!) and just a little disappointed.

And the book is now delayed again aswell.
