Ex lease cars. Where to buy?
steve8274 - 15/6/15 at 09:48 PM

Maybe a silly question but where can you buy an ex lease vehicle? I don't wish to go to an auction. My last car was ex lease with high mileage but it had been maintained well with full service history. I purchased that from a third party garage who obviously put some money on himself.
Do lease companies sell them on to private individuals.
I am looking at volvo xc60 or Honda CR-V.
Failing that does anyone know of any decent hire purchase deals or whatever they are called.
Preferably northwest area
Thanks in advance

this was the wifes line of work till recently (she sold them on from the leese company) go to your local car supermarket big out of town place with 300 cars to choose from you know the type 95% of then are ex lease they buy direct from the company in bulk to keep the price down.

A lot of them also go through some of the more upmarket auctions.

Very unlikely they will sell direct to the public, far too much hassle.
I reckon auction (which you don't want) or supermarkets. Also a lot of cars end up with smaller garages who buy from auction. Be aware location can make a huge difference. (I saved approx 2k by driving from Brighton to Leicester to trade my car compared to a colleague who bought locally. I had 5k more miles and a missing load cover)

I have bought cars from Trade-sales and Cargiant and both were ex-leas hire.

I bought a high mileage ex-lease BMW from a small private dealer. He acquired his cars direct from the BMW dealership when their lease cars were returned but had too high a mileage or were too old to sell on as second hand cars off their forecourt. I got a good condition, fully serviced, car for essentially private sale price.

It might be worth asking your local main dealer if they do anything similar - of course you will have to get past the sales pitch to buy a more expensive/newer/lower mileage car off them first.

Hi Steve
Theres the huge Car auctions at Bamber bridge nr Preston, think sales are Mondays and Wednesday
, may be worth a look, you can just turn up and walk around seeing what they have, and what prices are making, then decide if you want to go this way or buy from a dealer,

Mitch

Thanks for all the replies.
Had a view of few car giant type websites and nothing at present.
I may try a visit to volvo dealer as suggested and see what they do with their higher mileage vehicles and register an interest.
Have been to a few auctions and really don't like them, plus I don't have the necessary funds straight away. I was hoping to see car somewhere where I was able to put a deposit then collect in week or so, so I could organise the money.
Has anyone leased or hire purchased? What's their experience? How do you find who to lease from since I take it each company has different offers.
Thanks again

Steve are you lookin for new or used ?

steve8274 - 18/6/15 at 07:37 AM

Hi Mitch
Looking at a used one to buy

mitch2b - 18/6/15 at 07:54 AM

we looked at changing our v60 to a xc 60 last year and came across this company,
www.carwow.co.uk

they are all main dealers offering big discounts, they were 3k less than main dealer, think it was total of about 7k less than list,
the discounts available really surprised us, but then we decided we were moving so still have the v60
