Paypal vs Credit card for eBay purchase parts
r1_pete - 27/2/09 at 02:20 PM

I'm about to buy some car bits of ebay, 1 seller £200 total.

I have incomming paypals on the way which will cover it.

From a buyer protection viewpoint am I better buying before the funds hit my account and top up with the credit card, or, wait for the funds?

Is there any added credit card protection if anything goes wrong?

Cheers.
Pete.

You are better protected if the payment comes off your card - any probs you can ask them to charge back. You would also have Paypal protection as well.

Debateable. There is not case law on whether credit cards need to cover the whole basket when the total amount is over £100 or just items over £100.

If no single item is over £100 I personally would use paypal, but not use paypal credit. Instead do a card payment through paypal. A Visa Debit would mean you can charge back the transaction is paypal get arsey.

Thanks guys I've Credit Carded it, one item was £170 and only £60 in the pp at the time.

Hopefully wont need the protection but its nice to know the best option.
