Just wondering how the new Locost book was selling. People seem to like it and it would be interesting to see how it sells compared to the other book.

So c'mon Chris, are you worth a few bob?

chrisg - 3/10/07 at 05:49 PM

No.

The book's selling very well (about 18000 copies) but the advance needs to be earned before you get any dosh.

I owed THEM £7 at the last count!

Still the other books are "coming soon"

how much is an Ultima anyway?

Cheers

Chris

hi,
I ordered my second copy of new book some
hours ago. First one was used as a gift to
inspire a friend but he unfortunately didn't
got the "flu"...

Chris correct me if I am wrong but when
I was looking the book in the bookstore I
think I saw plans on how to to manufacture
Pinto engine mountings. (really usufull as I
will use a pinto). Is that correct?

You can buy my new book then Chris, build your own Ultima style car and race it for under £500!

Small Print - 1/16th Scale!

The prototype uses the Sierra cast aluminium mounts but the book has details for a "universal" type of engine mount, which could be used on the Pinto if required.

Second edition of the current book (publishing has looooooong lead-in times) using additional donors, Mazda MX5, BMW 3 series (E36) and possibly the Vauxhall Omega/Senator/Carlton if I can sort out the problems.

And

A DIY single seater book, R1 or blade engined with a chain drive diff. Sort of 60's F1 (think BRM, Lotus 25/33) stylee.

And my novel - Barry Botter and the uphill gardeners.

A definate best seller!

Cheers

Chris

Will the second edition tell you how to get the drive to the wheels?

chrisg - 3/10/07 at 08:43 PM

Cheers

Ooh, sounds interesting.

There going to be much on engines or just running gear?
Interested as been thinking about various Beemer engines for awhile but not sure how to attack the ECU issue!

Cheers,
James

That's something that I'll have to sort out too, but the parts are very usable and the mazda bits could have been purpose made.

Do they have houses in Lancashire?

I might consider a bit of a nip and tuck - when the modelling work starts to dry up.

Cheers

Chris

Surely the fix to any ECU is a Megasquirt.
It would get round all the security issues of a donor'd ECU.
