Help ... can anyone identify this dry sump
plentywahalla - 8/5/09 at 07:59 PM

I bought this zetec dry sump on ebay.

It was described as a Titan Dry Sump but it doesn't look like anything that Titan makes according to their current website.

I need to know where I can buy a suitable gasket as the standard Ford item doesn't fit. Also I need to know the rating of the high pressure pump.

Any ideas? Rescued attachment DSC00272.JPG

does it have any part numbers on it at all, i just looked in the burton catalog and the titan dry sump pans in there look similar to the one you have. do you know whether its a twin scavenge kit (two stage kit) or a 3 stage.

No I don't have any identifying part no's or markings at all.

There are two stages to the pump, one I assume is low pressure and one high pressure as they are of very different designs.

The pump doesn't look like anything listed by Titan or Pace or Dunell.

here is another pic Rescued attachment DSC00271.JPG

A bit worrying...

Is it a snug fit against the block?

Why dosent the Ford gasket fit? Surely the mating surfaces are the same shape? I changed to a dry sump on the Hayabusa and a standard Suzuki gasket fits with a little fettling.

Have you offered the sump up against the bottom of the block to make sure it fits?

The sump gasket you need is from the early zetec.

Thanks Prackers, maybe you are right I will look into it.

The original sump pan on my engine has a flat flange mating to the block. There is no groove cast into it like the dry sump pan. The gasket therefore is also a plain flat one.

I'd still like to know who made my dry sump. I am assuming that the pump is a two stage with one scavenge pump and one high pressure pump. Therefore the high pressure delivers straight to an adapter plate on the engine block oil filter housing bypassing the original oil pump.

I'll be in trouble if it isn't, so i'd like to know for definate!

Bit of a thread revival , did you ever find the part identity of the pump? I’ve exactly the same one, how did you plumb it?

Thanks
