How do i get rings out of pistons when they are stuck in solid, looks like its carbon that is holding them. Thanks Kev

I can not say this is the right thing to do, but i have cleaned up some pistons ready for a winter build with Thinners

initially it was just to clean the varnish type of stains of them, but it freed up the rings as well

I cleaned my KLV6 pistons in paraffin to get me going

coke (acola)?

soak in diesel or parrafin thish should soften the carbon, the rings will need changing when you remove them, they will probably break as ther become brittle

Turn the pistons upside down and leave them to soak in a container in some parafin

I've always found rings to be brittle when new and bendy once used....

If they are that seized in then personally I would buy new ones, so doesn't matter how you get the old ones out

But if you really do want to get them out, then do as above, but try a few minutes with a blow torch first, that has worked for me in the past, then just a gentle tap to get them moving.

paint stripper dissolves carbon very nicely
