My Locost

I posted about the car before I bought it... needed some work and decided to rebuild the engine as it smoked due to a cracked valve guide.

I did 400 miles in it before taking it off the road, been 10 days off and will be anotehr 2 weeks before its back on the road with new wheels etc

here are my progress pics.

The things I dont like are the condition of the body (dull) and naff graphics, rank wheels, condition of dash and the smokey engine.

I decided to do a full engine rebuild on it and the car is now in bits. I've bought wheels for it and will get them on soon enough I've started buying all the switches and gauges I need to re do my dash so I can rewire the inside too.

The car should be back on the road next week so I can run it in as quickly as possible.

here are the pics I've got of it so far.

PS. Its my first kit car so any advice will be appreciated

one thing I do want to know is what brakes I can fit onto it as a replacement for what's on it at the mo.

Thanks, Yodi[/B]

Progress over the last few days has been good, after inspection of the head Taner found a dead valve guide so its now at TL Engineering getting a new one and the rest inspected

I have taken the seats out to paint the floors and get new flooring for it, the stuff we use on wings also used on skateboards, we call it Wing walk but I dont know what it's actually called.

I have also painted all of the engine bay.

The block is at my house cleaned now and ready for paint...

New fan is in just need to wire it in.

Took the poo paint off the bellhousing too.

I also polished up all the metal body with a mop and autosol, it came out so much better but will do it again anyway

here are my latest pics..

Apparently it's a cortina 3/4/5 atlas axle not a Kolne my trusty boys on Turbosport conformed it due to seeing a void bush on it that the cotinas used??

Im not that clued up but they are

Apparently it's nto a normal atlas though if that makes sense lol

Thanks Ben

Although when I first posted about the car the vibe was negative I love it, I couldnt find any other car with some nice bits on it and not a xflow or pinto for the money.

I'm an engineer so carrying out all the work is easy enough and also enjoyable, and at the end i'll have what I hope is a decent car

Hi ben

Yes I will sell the wheels, the tyres are all very good and not that old

The bad point is that someone painted them white directly over the silver without any prep work so the paint if flaking off in big chunks.. Infact if you look at my latest pics you will see that I have started getting the paint off the pass front wheel to make them all silver again.

They are 7x17 Et 40

let me know if you are still interested as I need to sell them to buy my new tyres

Thanks, Yodi

You're doing a cracking job there that man - If your replacemnt dash has equal care and attention then I'd suggest that the woes imposed by the previous owner will all be forgotten...

Just a word of warning with the powder coated camcover.... make sure there is NO powder coat inside (including the inside of the filler cap hole) as it can flake off into the engine.
