Manchester to Donington...

I'm planning to head down to Donington show on Sat' morning via the Peak District. Does anybody fancy joining me? I'll make the route interesting.

The current weather forecast isn't too bad, though there may be rain in Manchester Sunday afternoon as I get back. The plan is to set of from here about 9am which should get to the show for 10:30/11am depending on route. If anybody does want to join me, the meet up would be the end of the M67 at Mottram McD's so easy to find.

I'm going to camp over Sat night and return Sunday. So if your just going for the day, you'd have to sort your own return run.

Hi Adi,

how close will you be getting to Sheffield. Bakewell at a guess?

I may join you at that point.

Rob.

Haven't finalised the route yet, Rob. Probably along the lines of... Glossop, Snake pass, Ladybower res'/Bamford, ...Bakewell...?

Is there a list of who is exhibiting? Or does any body know if Cyana Sports Cars will be there?

I will be up for the journey down.

Although only very slim I will be in the MNR. Still trying to sort stuff out - might give you a bell later to see if you can help.

Would love to go in the MNR - and being in a "convoy" would give me some peace of mind.

If not, still fancy going to the show.

Count me in - just dont know if I will be in the kit or tin top.

Is it correct that if you go to the show you can only view the racing from the infied and won't access to the paddock without paying a further £15?

That'd be a bit in the wrong direction from here.

How do you get to the infield? Is there not a paddock access tunnel?

might join you ade, I will have my lads with me so no hooning for me. If your hooning then I will make my own way. Also just beyond my range Donny so will need a fuel stop somewhere at about 50 miles.

Remember Glossop high street is closed so you will have to go round the back to get to snake. Maybe go Hayfield, Ferodo, winnats pass, castleton to get to Bamford. I was going to try that, then Baslow, Bakewll, Matlock Belper and Derby.

I am not camping as nearly got drowned camping in lakes this weekend so i have had my fill and will return Saturday night.

Chris

Wasn't planning on "hooning" but do like to make "respectable progress".

I was considering that route with maybe Mam Nick and Edale instead of Winnats. The 50 limit and camera vans make the Snake' less fun than it used to be.

Come over into the paddock and say hello to some of us RGBers, we're there all weekend. Apparently we have free access into the show and we're told those attending the show can get into the paddock.

We're qualifying at 11:40 Saturday, racing at 4:40 and racing on Sunday at 3:50. Mine's the slow white/green BDN #33

Meet and route route details...

Meet up at Mottram (in Longdendale) McDonalds. 8:15 to leave at 8:30 will mean the roads are nice and quiet (unless people want 8:45 for 9am ).
From the M60 take the M67 (glossop/sheffield) to the end. turn right at the roundabout and it's on your right (50-100yrds)

ROU TE is ...Glossop, Chunel, Chinley, Rushup Edge, Mam Nick, Edale, Hope, Bradwell Moor, Eyam, Monsal Head, Bakewell, Grangemill, Belper, Derby, Donington.

Pif and Dan. You could meet us in the layby near th top of Chunel if you don't want to come to Mottram. We should be there about 8:40. Pif it's 40miles to Bakewell so you should be OK for fuel there.
Rob I'd expect to be in Bakewell about 9:30am

Should get us to Donington between 10:00 and 11am depending on stops, but if it's looking late we can miss Grangemill and go direct down the A6 from Bakewell.

It may be a little early Adi as i`m waiting for my brother to finish work around then.

If i dont see you on the main drag in Bakewell(just after all the shops enroute to Matlock) i`ll catch up with you there mate.

Keep an eyeon the thread Rob as timings might change depending on what others want to do. I'd be fine with leaving at 9 (so Bakewell at 10) but there'd be (a bit) more traffic.

Definate meet/start is going to be 8:15 for leaving at 8:30

Dan (and PIF?) we'll see you on Chunel (big lay-by as if levels out) at 8:40.

Anybody else coming along?
