Looking good !
It certainly has the makings.
Look wild with a 10" wide rear tyre.

very cool, unfortunately i have too many project i want to do after the locost, although i would like to add that to the list- teardrop caravan for
the locost, land rover tomcat (wildcat style), offroad caravan for the tomcat etc etc....

The dimensions of the wheel/tyre?
Its a 205/40ZR14 on a 17" x 5.5" honda VTR1000 rim. A tight squeeze but it seems okay.
I have nutted out the steering column uni's etc yesterday and today and have sent a few bits off to my machinist to cut some appropriate
splines. Once thats done and fitted I'll get into the brake, pedals assy etc.
Might be driving this thing in a month!
Probably take six months after that though to get the body etc all done...
Updates in a couple of weeks, Andrew.

Must have used a whole jar of K-Y jelly to get that 14" tire on the 17" wheel!

Ergh, yeah, mmm, 14"? So maybe I meant 17" but I didn't know you could get K-Y in jars??
Must check that out.
Dimensions of the frame?
Its about 1200mm wide at the widest point.
700mm wide between the front wheels (exc width of wishbone brackets) and not very wide at the rear.
Not sure how long it is but I'll measure it soonish once I have finished the nosecone piece that I am working on at the moment.

Reading your build diary, are you saying that the ADR's, stress testing and all the other sh1t you have to comply with in Oz doesn't apply
to trikes?
If so that's interesting and possibly finalises my next project (which will be in Queensland. Hopefully)
Experience is what you get when you don't get what you want!!!

Hi All, I'm back! Have been doing some work on the trike again having spent the last two years or so working on making a living.
I have it driving quite nicely. Further words and a few youtube vids at the website - www.ozht.com/trike

Diagonals on Rear Susp
Ahutchy,
Maybe too late, but, regarding the rear chassis may be more rigid if you could add a couple of diagonals.
-one from the top of the shock mount forward to the uppermost of the frame (closest node)
-the other from this node backwards to the bottom rearmost node.
Does this make sense??

Hi Angel,
Yeah a bit more reinforcing is required. Agreed.
What I have done so far is more about getting it driving okay and proving to myself that the project is worthy of the efforts to design and build
bodywork etc and fully finish it so as it is registerable for road use.
I fitted a nice new soft rear tyre earlier in the week and wow what an improvement. It accelerates far better and is a very exciting drive now with
much improved (read balanced) handling.
I am definitely going to fully finish it! Its a blast!

Hi All,
Well I'm back on this thing again and have gotten stuck into the bodywork.
A successful mould has been pulled from the nosecone plug that I laboured over on and off for 15 months.
In reality probably only 150 - 200 hours was expended, although who knows.
Frankly the moulding process took a while too, although my fibreglassing skills are meagre and rusty.
Cleaning up the mould at the moment for a layup of the finished nosecone panel over the weekend.
A subtle redesign of the side pod has made for a more integrated look (pics soon).
The short term goal is to get all the body work sorted over the next few months and fit the new quick rack and re drive it somewhere semi legal, at
speed and see how good the thing is.
Surely next year is the year for finishing the thing off?

I just noticed I started this thread in 2006!
Ee Gawds!
Anyway thought I would just paste a pic or two of where its up to.
Test drove it again recently with the quick rack installed, brakes now operating correctly, wheel alignment, tyre pressures right etc. Damn it drives
allright. Hangs on quite well around corners and according to my GPS logging goes from 100Kph to 150Kph in 5.5 seconds.
Standing start times weren't flash due to a bit of traffic around and not wanting squeal too much etc but I did get a 50 Kph to 100Kph time of
2.5 seconds.
