whilst it may look find and dandy, you are missing the point of a grille.
it is not to look fancy or be comical, that is a secondary function but its purpose is to prevent rabbits and medium sized stones from punching the
radiator whilst maintaining good air flow to the radiator.
I would estimate you are blocking of at least 30% of the air plus the wide strips are introducing tubulance.
the answer to this question is: shopping trolley or if you want to get fancy, aluminium strips to make egg box grille for the retro look.
you make get the thumbs up on here but you are wasting your time reinventing the wheel and comking up with an inferior result.
compare yours to a grille from someone who has a proven record demonstrating they know what they are doing.
in rhe end, it is up to you as you'll be paying for the engine build after blow up.
oh, and replace the word "gay" by "crap".

PS sorry if this offends; you may not like my advice but you cannot argue it is good advice and for your benefit.

errrrr....ok...
yes your answer has offended....
well i honestly think you are talking bollocks.....if i was overly worried about airflow then i would have just gone for a wide spaced mesh....lets be
honest, if you were to look at the air flow on any road car you will see that it is blocked by at least 30% with bumpers, air con and other
bits......
my slats can be made narrower with no problem, this is after all a go at making sure my templat ewas right....
i could easily have made a 7 style grill, but my car is NOT a seven.....it is a locost....and why should i copy something??
reading things like this makes me think why should i bother posting up my progress to be told its 'crap'.....
i can take sensible critisism but this is not it.....
as someone said earlyer....its just a bit of fun....
could you show me what grill you have???
you seem to allways find the worst in peoples work....??

Are you on a windup?
If we all copied what already invented, we wouldnt have a successful forum, such as the one we all frequent here.
Personally, i think with a bit of dressing, it would be great, and would make averyone that sees it smile, rather than roll their eyes and say
"another one" at the likes of stoneleigh. The whole point of building a Locost is that its individual, and to the owners taste.
I doubt that this grille will really have a huge impact on cooling, and being that very few of us run highly tuned knife-edge race engines, it doesnt
have to be perfect anyway.
Its worth remembering that not everyone wants a tesco trolley on the front of their car to make it look like a barbeque, and that each persons taste
is different. IMO your comments are beyond constructive and offensive, but im not putting myself in the way of that! - Just my view.
Kindest Regards,
Richard.

I reckon boggle's smiley grille will stop a half-brick thrown up by a lorry far better than the caterham one.
...and it still makes me grin!

Once again all I see is the small white square with the cross in it. Any chance someone could post a photo in a different way to the original.
Seems like whatever you've come up with seems to be getting broad appreciation here for being different and fun. For that alone I take my hat
off to you.
now lets being seeing this grille everyone is talking about.

Brilliant, original, simple but effective, and nuts to the grumpy old git. - The caterham one might stop a rabbit....maybe.....but a pidgeon or
sparrow - unlikely!
Keep your posts coming - I'm in the middle of doing my grille now - will post pics when I've worked out how to stop the bits falling
off......

I haven't weighed it, but whilst its not that heavy, I think it has doubled the weight of the nosecone - maybe no good for formula 1, but
I'm not planning to race it........
