Since you want reliable then go for an engine that produced that horsepower standard from the factory!
Options (4cyl)
Nissan SR20DET with matching gearbox
Toyota 3sgte with W58 or J160 altezza gearbox (direct bolt on)
or if you want NA you can't go past the Honda F20c from a S2000 also with matching gearbox

Whoa a minute..
The striker engine bay is small (ish) and bonnet line low - plus they're designed to handle really well so weight and it's distribution is
crucial
So why deviate from the engine it's now-a-days basically designed to have the 4AGE
Except go for:-
The 4AG-ZE, supercharged version 250 hp easy, Heavy Duty Type 9 nailed to it and bolts straight in..

The only thing that put me off the rotary was the faff of arranging pre-mix on each fill of the tank. Not a problem at home, but would become a bit
tiresome if away for a while.
That said... has any of the ECU companies managed to work in an effective oil-metering-pump control for them yet?
It's Evolution Baby!

Honda S2000 will fit in a Striker I have seen one and talked to the owner at a track day. Don't know his name but he lives in Danbury, Essex if
that is any help.
Bl**dy quick car! (Might be worth asking RAW if they know who he is. )

The most reliable way would be without any tuning.
I think a Chevy small block with carbs could do it as well as any modern V6 (GM, Nissan/Renault, Toyota, etc.) with 3 liters and more.
Like the Honda suggestion.

Hi
If you get back to common sense regarding the handling weight etc etc. As Jim says above The 4ag with the 20 valve head. Or the zetec with a set of
cams.
And real common sense would also say you don't need 250HP. There's very few chassis that can actually Handel that sort of power. 200Hp is
more than enough and would probably see of a 250Hp motor as it was struggling to get the power down.
Cheers Matt
