The previous tyres, 195's in harder compound (300 treadwear, same as T1R's incidentally) would light up in 4th at 70mph.

The importance of good, soft rubber with anything over 200bhp is not to be underestimated and should be factored into the build cost

Go for it!! Would be a very interesting install.

We run the 2.3 in NA form, great engine. Just fits in the Indy without any bonnet buldges etc (though the sump is chopped by approx 50mm). Ours is standard, on ZX9 carbs and puts out 165bhp at the wheels.

If your daily hack is a Ford ST then why look any further for a donor? Just stick some ITBs on it and go for it

The issue will be torque rather than outright power. A S2000 engine with 250BHP and next to no torque would be easy to drive (relatively). Something which goes from no torque to lots of torque in 500 rpm (tuned turbo cars are a good example) would be much harder to drive on the road fast. NA or supercharging seem to be the way to go in a light car (and I love turbo cars )
