I can't drive yet, but when I was eight me and my dad got caught at 105mph (don't know how many kph) in France without the numberplate
showing (because of the bikes) in our V6 mondeo with the boot full of camping equipment on our way to the ferry as we had been stuck in traffic. They
gave him a warning (because we were foreigners)!
Adam
P.S. The limit was 120

Hi Phelpsa
the current limit in france is 68 in the dry and 82 in the wet (110 and 130 kph?)
If you are caught doing +25kph over the limit they can take your license on the spot - even if it is a foreign license.

when I was 8 i dont think cars did 105mph. My dad would have had a 950cc early triumph herald or an A35 austin.

And note 'they can', but they didn't (thankfully, or I would still be stck in france 5 years later) .

45 in a 30 - about 5 yards away from where the 30 became derestricted
And I was only doing that speed because I'd been sitting behind a tractor trailing some hay (and leaving large amounts of said hay on my car,
the road etc) that was doing about 15mph. So, thinks I:
here comes my chance to get past
it's derestricted just up ahead
nothing behind
check forwards - clear
pull out
foot down
past tractor
lift off
coast down
bugger who's that jumping out behind a hedge?
Bastard copper wouldn't see it my way (was training a new guy, so was keen to do me), £60 fine, 3 pts, 5 minutes of verbal on my driving.
Worst thing was that the tractor was now in front and I had to tail him for about another 10 miles (country roads, no more opportunites).
Only points for speeding I ever got. Got 4 points for dangerous driving aged 18, thoroughly deserved, I drove like an idiot for the first 18 months
after passing my test, only God's grace that I didn't kill myself or (worse) someone else. Writing off a car was a wake up call I'll
never forget.
