Robert,
Suchs parts needs to be jet or laser cutted. It will cost you 18euro per side i estimate. To cut out with laser.
If your weld goes it will deff cost you more then that. I would change them.
312Rod = High Nikkel percentage thats the reason its expensive!
Nikkel is flexible thats the reason you can join different materials with them. because it permits "flex" in the weld and then it just
won't crack.

Oh for goodness sake I wish people would apply logic and not paranoia on here!!!
You are fine welding those ford hub plates, they welded the buggers on didn't they!!!!!!!!!!
As gazza said they are forged steel not cast iron!!!!
The split tubes look a bit weedy to me, but then I am an agricultural engineer!
Retro RWD is the way forward...........automotive fabrication, car restoration, sheetmetal work, engine conversion
retro car restoration and tuning

As Nat says. They arent cast, they are forged. You can tell by the distinct lack of casting marks on them, and the surface finish on them is too
consistent to be cast.
In which case they are forged steel, and are fine welded on.
My only concern would be the carrier tubes. I would close them off if i was you, simply to add a bit more rigidity.
I wouldnt be concerned about the welded tube either, my GTS one is welded down the centre and it doesnt concern me.
