You really only want fuel and air in your combustion chamber, not a cocktail that includes a manky oil/water combination! The catch tank is usually just a small alloy tank, with a drain on the bottom and two spigots, one for the oil/water from the crankcase to go in, the other to vent to atmosphere. There can be a 'fill level' sight tube to let you know when it needs drained.

It's just to collect the mixture instead of it going onto the road. The fumes are usually filtered to atmosphere from this.

I can make one for you or we can do Mocal ones starting from £69.00 + VAT for a 1 litre one.

JOELP!!

Your filter was returned to me! I'll send it on again - please be home!!

hi steve! i seem to be the troublesome customer here! I sent the plate back today, should arrive in the morning. How come they didnt leave a missed parcel ticket when they tried?! Im never in during the day Cheers!

the crank vent on the zx9 doesnt produce any output apparently (says my friend whos hammered one for a while) his vents to atmosphere and there is no sign of any mess anywhere.

It will actually be about 1/2inch high for my bonnet so a small scoop will have to be made; I'm not sure whether or not to try & regain that 1/2inch by moving the filter down as far as possible (ie now I've done the job I don't want to do it again - would mean cutting out a new backplate & the sucking bits wouldn't be in the iddle any more - ahhhh decisions........

Hey all,

Just curious about the people that fitted this filter to a carbed R1? Did they retain the rubber trumpets?

I really want to keep the trumpets and was curious as to how this was possible?

I was thinking seperate air filter cocks might be an easier fitment?

Thanks for any advice.

Chris.

Obviously I meant socks!!

Not entirely sure that I could fit all the Big Brother contestants under my bonnet...

Chris.

Chris have you got your old air box if you turn it around and cut it down it will just fit under the MNR bonnet. You have to turn the trumpets round as well. I have had a go and it looks ok. Some say that it is a better to keep the air box than use the foam filters. There will be less induction noise for SVA noise test and it costs nothing. Bryan

I agree Bryan, hence the U2U for pictures!

I was just fairly unsure of whether the standard airbox would fit under the VortX bonnet.

Anyone else used air socks on their R1?

Or used the trumpets on one of these sausage filters?

Thanks,

Chris.

This is still under development as the bonnet is flexible it does just touch the top but as the top is flat I don’t think this will cause a problem.
I have not tried it yet.
I will try it with some foam strips on top to see if it stops the bonnet vibrate.
Or I could cut a bit more off. Either way I don’t think I have lost anything by having a go. Maybe someone has some thoughts that could help. I think I have seen pictures of one done before but cant remember where. Rescued attachment DSCF0032.JPG

Has anyone thought of raising the nosecone bonnet and scuttle by fitting a rubber strip along the top of the side panels or would this not work. Rescued attachment DSCF0003.JPG
