GSXR1100 age

How do I tell what letter (J,K,WS......) my GSXR1100 engine is. It came separate from the bike so I do not know what reg it was or what it looked like. The first letter of the engine number is V if that helps?

Gixer engine number

Ring a Suzuki dealer and quote the engine number if they are any good they should be able to tell you model and year built and all that jazz

Is it oil and air cooled or water cooled. The W series were the water cooled ones which came out when the oil cooled ones were discontinued. The first was the WP in 93 I think.

I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

i think my 1998 GSXR 600 was a WV so your engine is either a 97 or 98 i would have thought.

My engine is oil and air cooled. Does the V at the beginning have any relevance at all?

I doubt it if it's part of the engine number. It must be pre '93 if it's not water cooled.

this should help, doesn't give the engine letter but lets you find out the year if you know the origional carb size. all you need is the year when ordering parts.

as for giving the suzuki dealer the engine number and them finding out what year it is, fat chance if you phone the glasgow dealership
