Maybe you don't need someone to finish the car so much as pitch in and get you past the plateau - I've reachd that lost interest stage myself a few tmes, and just getting passed the next stage is usually enough to spur you on again.

Go to a motor show. I occasionly lose interest. Infact, i hadnt done anything to my car for 2 weeks. I went to the london motorsport show today (had free tickets ), saw LOADS of really nice race cars (including lots of sevenesque cars) came home and went straight to the garage.
You just need to find the best way that motivates you. From the sounds of things you only have a few weekends of work left

How long can i resist the temptation to drop a V8 in?

You should have a break from it until after christmas then get someone to take you out in their finished car and you will be filled with renewed enthusiasm!!
