how is my crank pully held in place?

ecotec X20XEV, is the crank pulley held on with a key shaft? tapered? or any other method?

would welding with the pulley still on the crank be a bad idea? i think it would be.
not needing a big weld, just 8, say 1cm long each, plenty of time between welds to stop it heating up too much

I would say welding it on would be a bad idea. Im not sure how much effect it would have if it was imbalanced

How long can i resist the temptation to drop a V8 in?

Yep.

If you weld it on you'd really struggle if you wanted to take the cam belt off.

Not only that you will f/up the front crank seal, plus not sure if the alloy oil pump housing would like the heat.

What are you welding? Are you planning to weld something to the pulley? That would make it very unbalanced??

I'm using megajolt. the vx system seems to use a cam sensor. don't think that agrees with megajolt.
and i've got carbs. so i think the vx system is spark and injection, so i don't think it would have worked.

whats those 4 little torx head bolts in the pulley? would i be easier taking the pulley off with them instead?

4 torx bolts removes the pulley the centre bolt releases the crank gear for the cambelt.

Gotta say it - that'll look heaps better than my install - the 1.6 just uses the single bolt to retain the sprocket & pulley, so the only option was to bolt it to the front.

Wish I'd looked out for a 2l sprocket & pulley. If anyone's got a set, give me a yell...

PU?! really? does that work? would be a good call if it does!

where can i buy PU locally? i don't want to buy a cartridge of it on the net and pay for delivey and stuff. i'd like to just go in a shop and buy some, but where would i get it, and whats it called?

I was just going by the instructions on the megajolt/autosport labs site, where they show them welded on
