As above type nine. Or an omega box if it fits in your tunnel. Remember you'll need to fit a spigot bearing as well.
If it looks wrong it probably is wrong.

There is quite a big amount of play on a T9 input shaft, so I'd definitely recommend a spigot bearing!

No but the consensus is that the bolt pattern on the cylinder block is identical. The box is a big wide box though and if you're not building
your own chassis then some welding modification will most certainly be required.
If it looks wrong it probably is wrong.

sure did... this was with a type 9, and a x20xev ecotec, so i don't know if the crank/clutch arrangement is much different. i know i needed a
different sierra clutch plate than the red top uses. maybe it was a better fit? i have no idea

c20xe, c20let, x20xev and maybe a few others all use the exact same block

ford type 9 gearbox comes from most Sierras, bellhousings can be bought for this all over the place. i got mine from yukspeed, though not particularly
cheap (mine was £170) they can occasioanlly be had off ebay pretty cheap. there's quite a few manufacturers of the bellhousing.
vauxhall engines and ford type 9 gearboxes are a common conversion in mk1&2 escort rally cars, so parts are faily easily available

yep, sbd have them, be careful, there's 4 different types!
first up, if you install the engine to sit at a 7 degree angle (as they do in FWD setups) you need the 7 degree type to hold the gearbox straight. for
vertical installations there's a vertical type.
3 ltre capris have a type 9 box with a longer input shaft, so there's 2 different lengths on bellhousing to accomodate. 153mm (which is for the
short input shaft) and a longer one for the capri box

you can also fit an opel manta 1.8 gearbox but you have to fit engine at 7 degrees, The omega box is huge.
I would suggest a type nine, then you can fit engine level, and you have a better choice of changing the ratios and upgrading to a beefed up type 9
when you blow the standard one up ( which will happen ).

I have 2 x 1.8 manta boxes for sale and also a bag of the spigot bearings.
Though they may not be strong enough for a LET

A standard C20LET is 204bhp, 206 lbft. I suspect that a standard Type 9 will have a limited life expectancy. The
BGH Geartech uprated boxes should be ok, but they aren't cheap.
