Cobra Roadster 7 seats

Hi All,

I am toying with the idea of putting some Cobra Roadster 7 seats in my 2004 build Indy.

It currently has the MK fibreglass seats in it and I have more than enough legroom, I also want a bit more comfort.

My question is, how much could I expect to get for 2 perfect condition orange/carbon fibre effect MK fibreglass seats if I were to sell them to help towards the cost of the Roadster 7's and does anyone know if I can get the Roadster 7's in Orange/Black?

A good supplier for the Cobra's would also be good

Any fitment issues?

Cheers,

Dan

Roadster 7's fit fine in an Indy. The only thing I found was the width is a bit snug but if on runners they'll slide backwards and forward fine.

I needed to mount the runners on 16mm box section to allow enough clearance for the mechanism to work but apart from that no problems.

If you use runners and box section use a nut inside the box section with the seat runner bolt through it that way the box section stays with the seat and makes it a lot easier when it comes to fitting in the car.

Hope that makes sense.
Nigel

Thanks Nigel.

Another option which i have just seen is to stick padding onto the GRP MK ones....where could I get this?

I like how Hellfire has done his:

If Hellfire reads this, where did you get the padding from mate or did you cut it yourself?

Thanks,

Dan

I could be wrong but I'm sure he mentions it on his web site somewhere. May be worth a look.

There's a guy on here called Cashy IIRC who was offering Roadster 7 seats at good prices.

Remember harness slots (if you need them) are extra on the Roadsters.

This guy does Cobras at better prices than Cashy (or did, the last time I looked). Can't comment on quality/service, though, as I ended up getting something different.

Dan, I sourced the adhesive foam from a company which I can never remember the name of. I've got details at work, so I'll post them up tomorrow.

We designed and cut the pattern ourselves.

Ive sat in the Cobra seats and the MK fibreglass ones Stick with the fiberglass ones and get some padding as Hellfire have done. The Cobra ones are really snug Im 12 stone and theres not much room for movement you feel crippled after a coule of hours in one.

I disaggree.
I'm 15-17 stone, and big build on top
I would not fit IN the shell seats, but fit on the cobra's well.
Done 3-4 hour journeys no problem

Has anybody SVA'd their car with cobra 7s
installed or is it an upgrade later?

Is there an issue with the standard height of
the harness holes and the seat belt mounts
on the standard MK?

Im looking to get these seats myself.

Cheers

I SVA'd mine with Cobra seats fitted. The only thing that I was concerned about was the height of the harness holes compared to the harness mount on the chassis.

To be on the safe side I ordered 4 of the metal sleeves that fit inside the polybushes from MK. Sprayed them black them used longer eye bolts fitted through the sleeves to the chassis.

No comments from the examiner about the set up.

Cheers
Nigel

FWIW
No problem at SVA.
In fact, my tester (nottinham) commented that the design of the Cobras was sufficiently strong, that the harness holes become the top belt mounting
