Play in Sierra rack

Anyone help.
The ball joints in the end of the rack both have play. How can I get rid off this play. Dont have a sierra book to hand.

If I am not mistaken inside the gaiters on the end of the rack are lock nuts that can come undoneand theses do allow for some degree of adjustment.

There are only two pairs of balljoints on a Sierra rack. Those on the tie rods (steering arms) and the track rod ends. AFAIK, neither of these are serviceable and must be replaced if worn?

Which part of the rack has play? It isn't uncommon for the pinion screw to come loose on a Sierra rack. This will give some play in the rack which can be removed by tightening the pinion retaining nut.

Internet has been down. Thanks for the exploded view Phil. Its the ball joints on the end of the track rods going onto the rack its self. I'll get some stilsons on them and see what happens.

Don't think there's anything to tighten on the tie rods.

You just bin 'em and buy new ones.

IIRC they were £28 from Ford.
