Punto problem
Yes I know its a Fiat.
My daughter has just reported to me a problem with he r car 1.2 8V Punto Mk2
Starts and runs ok.
No missfires.
No nasty noises.
No power under load up hill or on acceleration.
No smoke
Can't see anything obvious/visual
No engine management light or anything.
Help, this is taking up valuable build time.

We have a Cinquecento that had a similar problem when the crank position sensor was on it's way out.

The 2 major weak points of the 1.2 FIRE are the ECU and the head gasket. Always the first things to check.
If you can keep you head, whilst all others around you are losing theirs, you are not fully aware of the situation

And my crystal ball says " professor plum in the library with the lead piping"
You need to plug it in to get some proper diagnostics done. Even if there are no fault codes logged then you need to look at live data to see whats
going on.

sounds like blocked cat to me ,have a feel at the tail pipe for pressure when you rev it up quite common for a lump to break off and block the
outlet on the cat

Have I missed something? Whats the problem she reported? Or is it just unusual that there's nothing wrong?

This bit is the problem.
No power under load up hill or on acceleration.
In addition to the points listed above, a duff throttle pot or a dead MAF unit can make the engine go very flat indeed.
Not that they have much grunt to start with anyway...

I that case...
First place I'd be looking is a blocked exhaust. Getting a lot of them this time of year after a damp winter. Condensation rots them inside.
