Tin top rumbling noise

I drove my Saxo for the first time on Sunday - first drive was to the start line for first practice on a hill climb!

There's a rumbling from the front end that speeds up with road speed but doesn't seem to vary on lock. Before I strip it all apart what do you guys and gals think? First guess is wheel bearing, second CV joint.

I'd post on the Saxo forum but I don't speak the language and I don't think you're allowed to post unless it's about lowering your car or disconnecting the ABS ...... :-)

Might be worth checking the wheels are in balance? Then it would most probobly be a wheel bearing like you say

How hard can it be?

You could ask Paul Tigerb6, he's had loads of probs with his own saxo!

He's not posted on here for a few days, which is unlike him, but he's still logging on as usual I think...

First check for a loose wheel !

But by far most likely cause is wheel bearing

I agree,
I had a rumble on my 106 and it was the wheel bearing, they aren't expensive but they are a pain in the a*se to change. Hope you get it sorted without too many problems.

Thanks guys - wheel bearing change seems to require taking the strut off!

It's gone to have the rear cage welded up so I'll do it on the weekend hopefully. Can't wait. :-(

Could be, it only happens at high speed though - anything over 1.5mph
