Do it, brilliant views
It's OK, but not worth the detour
You'd be mad to attempt it

Applecross in a 7

I'm off to Scotland this weekend. Part of the route takes us for lunch at the Applecross Inn.

As I understand it, this is a very beautiful place, but the road there and back is single track and pretty steep.

Is it do-able in a BEC / 7 with no reverse??

Or am I likely to fry my clutch?

Mike

You've got to do it - one of the great roads.

And you can go out the other side of the village withhout coming back over the Pass of the Cattle.

I went there a few years ago, unfortunately not in the kit . The roads are brilliant and if i ever get the chance to go it will definately be in the kit.

more than ok in the kit, I went on the back of a goldwing over the pass, camped for a week with rain 24/7 at the applecross campsite, only good bit was the midges were kept at bey by the rain.

Other than that it was sunny when we left and the pass was awe inspiring.

Do it. Absolutely stunning part of the world, some folks go abroad to see scenery like this !
I'd be prepared to get out and push backwards, small sacrifice. Chances are you
won't see another car anyway

Go for it.

I have some vids somewhere of going up the Belach Na Ba and down the other side in the mini, I'll upload them later.

Great roads around that part of Scotland. If you want a quiet, smooth 2 lane go for the road between Garve and Kinlochewe and Achnasheen...deserted and never any speed cameras....

If you want spectacular then the road from Achnasheen to Torridon is fantastic, then from Torridon to Diabaig (dead end, but worth it).

I went round there about 20 years ago in an MG Midget with leaky roof - torrential rain all the way, but fantastic!

Thanks lads. Well I'm back home. Up and over the pass was great! Rewarded myself with Fish & Chips in the pub in Applecross.

Will post some photos up later.
